What to readbefore youcommit five years.

Deliberately short. Most of what is useful before you start is not about osteopathy at all.

Reading

Before you apply: Nothing technical. Read one accessible book on how pain works — not on osteopathy. If it still interests you afterwards, that is a better signal than any prospectus.
Anatomy: Do not buy an atlas before you arrive. We teach from one specific text and you will waste money guessing.
Evidence: A short introduction to trial design will serve you better in year four than anything on technique. Any undergraduate methods primer will do.
Not recommended: Technique manuals and video courses. Learning a manoeuvre from video before you have been taught to palpate builds habits we then have to unpick.

Documents are sent by the admissions office on request. Write and say which one you need.

Can I work alongside the course?: A little. Timetabled hours run four and a half days a week and practical sessions cannot be made up from notes. More than about eight hours of paid work a week becomes difficult, and this is the most common reason for withdrawing in year one.
Do I need a science baccalauréat?: No. Each cohort is roughly evenly split between science and non-science backgrounds, and the difference has disappeared by the end of year two.
Is there a January intake?: No. One intake a year, in September, with sixty places.
Can I transfer from another school?: Occasionally, into year two or three, if the hours map across and a place has come free. Write to the office with your transcript rather than applying through the normal route.
Is the diploma recognised abroad?: It is recognised in France. Recognition elsewhere depends on the country, and some require additional examination. Ask us about the specific country before you assume.
What happens if I fail a year?: You may repeat one year once across the whole course. The regulations are published in full and we would rather you read them before you enrol than after.
