Why we put hands on a body in the second week
Most courses teach a region and then palpate it. We do the opposite, and the reason is not pedagogical fashion.

Osteopath and teacher of anatomy and palpation in years one and two
All entriesThomas Dubois teaches anatomy and palpation to first- and second-year students, and is responsible for the sequence of the first two years — which is to say, for the decision to put hands on a body in the second week rather than the second year.
He qualified in 2009 and still runs a practice two days a week. He argues, at length and to anyone available, that students who learn to describe what they feel before they learn what to call it end up better clinicians.
